Benefits of Himalayan Hot Stones for Headaches

Headaches and Migraines can be initiated by many different causes.  Allergies, Chemical Imbalances, and Environmental Sensitivities may need to be addressed to get to the cause of chronic Headaches and Migraines. Yet whatever the initial catalyst for a Headache or Migraine may be, it will generally begin with a physical process of tension and inflammation, which can be reduced with Himalayan Hot Stones.

Himalayan Hot Stones can help to relieve the pain and discomfort of Headaches through the heat they provide, by the topical absorption of the essential mineral Magnesium contained in the Himalayan Hot Stones, and in charging the surrounding atmosphere with negative ions.

When the Heat of the Himalayan Hot Stones is applied to the muscles of the neck and skull that can cause headaches when tense or inflamed, the blood vessels are dilated, increasing the flow of oxygen and nutrients to the muscles, while forcing metabolic wastes into the Lymphatic System, thus helping the muscles and connective tissue to relax and reducing the inflammation that can cause Headaches. The Heat of the Himalayan Hot Stones also stimulates the sensory receptors in the skin, decreasing transmissions of pain signals to the brain and relieving discomfort.

Additionally, when the Magnesium contained in Himalayan Hot Stones is absorbed by the skin, muscles and connective tissue, the tension and inflammation that can cause Headaches is reduced yet again.  Magnesium is an essential mineral that is needed for more than 300 bodily functions, yet up to 50 percent of Americans are deficient in magnesium.  As suggested by American physician, scholar and author Mark Hyman, MD, magnesium can be thought of as the relaxation mineral.  Any part of the body that is tight, stiff, or cramping can be a sign of magnesium deficiency.  Dr. Mark Sircus, L.Ac., OMD, has shown that magnesium actually increases oxygen to the cells of the body. In addition to inducing a relaxation effect in the body’s muscles, magnesium also reduces inflammation and breaks the chemical cascade that leads to it.  Thus the Magnesium contained in the Himalayan Hot Stones reduces the tension and inflammation that can cause Headaches in a different way.

Sometimes the best thing for a Headache is a “Breath of Fresh Air.” Everyone has experienced the peace and relaxation of being in the country, beach, woods, or mountains.  One of the reasons for this is because these natural settings all expose us to a large concentration of Negative Ions.  Positive Ions are created by the Electromagnetic Radiation from our computers, cell phones, tablets, televisions, microwaves, and all electronic appliances.  Even dry, stale, dusty air is filled with too many positive ions. Positive Ions drain energy from our bodies, increase stress levels, cause chronic fatigue, decrease the body’s immune response, and contribute to disease.  When Himalayan Hot Stones are heated by light, the moisture that the salt naturally attracts from the air is evaporated and Negative Ions are created, reducing the Stress and Fatigue that can contribute to Headaches.
